If you are relocated to Pennsylvania, there are many great cities across the state to consider. While Philadelphia is an obvious choice, and certainly a great option if you want to live in a larger city, or you need to live in the southeastern part of the state, there are also many other great cities to consider.

As you plan your move to the Keystone State, be sure to broaden your horizons beyond just Philly. As you start to research which city would be best for you or your family, consider these other options:

Pittsburgh

Pittsburgh is the second largest city in the state after Philadelphia, and is located in the western part of the state. While Pittsburgh has a history in the steel and manufacturing industries, it has recently become a city known for technology, healthcare, and education.

There is also plenty to do in Pittsburgh, including seeing professional sports games like the Steelers or Penguins, visiting museums like the Andy Warhol Museum or the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, and checking out other attractions like Phipps Conservatory and Botanical Gardens.

Additionally, housing in PIttsburgh is more affordable than other large cities, as you can see from the many Pittsburgh houses for sale.

Harrisburg

Another fine option to consider is Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. It may be surprising to some that Harrisburg is the capital city of the state, not Philadelphia or Pittsburgh. Harrisburg lies on the bank of the Susquehanna River, and offers many great options for nature-lovers along the river or at nearby state forests, including biking, running, and hiking.

While HArrisburg is considerably smaller than Philly or Pittsburgh, the city still has plenty to offer, including restaurants, concert venues, museums, galleries, bookstores, and more. Harrisburg is a great option if you are looking for a smaller city with easy access to nature.

Lancaster

Lancaster is the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch County, and is surrounded by farmland. If you like the idea of a quieter city with quick, easy access to rolling acres of farmland, Lancaster is the pick for you.

Downtown Lancaster does offer a variety of shopping, restaurants, museums, and galleries. However, the city of Lancaster is known mostly for its Amish population, farms, Amish food and crafts, and antiques. If you are hoping to live in a more laid back Pennsylvania city, give Lancaster a look.

There are so many great cities to choose from across the state of Pennsylvania. While you may immediately jump to thinking of Philly as your only option for a move, there are so many more possibilities in the Keystone State.

If you want to live in a larger city besides Philadelphia, consider Pittsburgh. If you like the idea of a slightly smaller city, check out Harrisburg. If farmlands and green spaces are calling your name, you should definitely check out Lancaster.

There are so many diverse cities in every part of the state, that there is certainly a perfect city in Pennsylvania for everyone.
